A Red Winged Blackbird pauses between bites of seeds at a bird feeder.
This was taken at our bed and breakfast, At Home In The Woods, in Chesterton, Indiana near the shores of Lake Michigan. The wonderful home was ringed by forest, and bird feeders of all types dotted the space outside the many windows.
Birds were in abundance at all the feeders.
There were Woodpeckers, Blue Jays, Blackbirds and, of course, squirrels that foraged for the droppings around each feeder. We delighted in seeing all the birds as they each had their own way of approaching and keeping a pecking order at the feeders.
We enjoyed our time to refresh, wishing we had more time to stand and take in the joys of nature. We will be back.
